Why Chiropractic Is Great for Treating Work Injuries

Get Back in the Game Faster with These Treatments

Get Back in the Game Faster with These TreatmentsAre you suffering from a recent sports injury? Maybe you have an acute sprain or tear. Perhaps long-term exercise has taken its toll on your body. Whatever the cause of your sports injury, you can get back in the game faster with these seven chiropractic treatments.

7 of the Most Useful Chiropractic Treatments for Sports-Related Injuries

Chiropractic Adjustment

Certain sports can cause the spine to get out of alignment. Running, weightlifting, soccer, football, and gymnastics are sports which put extra pressure on the spine. A chiropractic adjustment can fix the problem.

This treatment is also known as subluxation, when a knowledgeable chiropractor realigns the spinal column. The chiropractor uses strategic arm thrusts on abnormal or displaced vertebrae. Realigning the spine can restore range of motion, reduce nerve pain, and improve function.

A chiropractic adjustment will decrease back, shoulder, and neck pain. It also helps you increase your mental acuity, which is important for getting back in the game. You will also enjoy a faster metabolism, relaxed muscles, lowered anxiety levels, and a strengthened immune system.

Electric Stim Therapy

For athletes with sore muscles, electric stim therapy is especially effective. With this treatment, low frequency electricity is applied to the muscles in tiny pulses to cause muscle contractions. These contractions strengthen the muscles. This treatment is not painful and can be adjusted to the needs of each patient. Through electric stim therapy, blood flow is restored and healing is promoted.

This therapy is useful for athletes with sprains, sciatica, muscle spasms, and tennis elbow. If you are experiencing lower back pain or neck pain, electric stim therapy may be helpful.

Hydromassage

This form of chiropractic massage uses warm water and water pressure to heal sore muscles. Hydromassage dates back to ancient Greek and Roman times. They understood the healing properties of warm water. Hydromassage increases circulation, lowers blood pressure, relieves muscle tension, rejuvenates muscles, and decreases toxins.

An athlete experiencing sprains, shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, or knee pain will benefit from hydromassage. Any athlete who is suffering from muscle overuse will also appreciate hydromassage.

Intersegmental Traction

This treatment employs passive motion to stretch spinal joints and increase mobility. Intersegmental traction slowly and gently restores range of motion to your spine while reducing muscle spasms. Runners, professional athletes, and regular exercisers can all benefit from this treatment.

When used in conjunction with chiropractic manipulative therapy, intersegmental traction is effective in increasing blood flow to the spine and back muscles. This improves overall mobility, balance, and strength, which are all crucial for excellent athletic performance.

Kinesio taping Fort LauderdaleKinesio Taping

This treatment involves lifting the skin with special latex-free, heat-activated tape to facilitate drainage of toxins from muscles. The tape is safe to use for days at a time, and it promotes the body’s natural healing process without restricting range of motion.

The tape is applied in a specific pattern to rehabilitate muscles. It promotes blood circulation, enhances performance, and prevents further injury. Kinesio taping can also speed healing of sports injuries.

This tape is especially helpful for knee pain, lower back pain, shoulder problems, hamstring or groin injuries, and ankle sprains, as well as many other sports-related injuries.

Sports Massage

Athletes tend to push themselves past their limits and reach physical and mental burnout. Chiropractic care can help athletes get back in the game both mentally and physically, through wellness and regular treatments like sports massages.

Sports massages are given before athletic events to help warm up muscles, stimulate circulation, and prevent injury. They can also be given after athletic events to reduce recovery time and risk of cramps. Sports massages are given as treatments for injuries to help reduce swelling and relieve pain. Regular sports massages remove acid buildup from muscles and improve performance. They also promote overall well-being and mental focus.

Ultrasound

Unlike the ultrasounds used in prenatal diagnostic screening, chiropractic ultrasound therapy helps heal tissues and decreases pain. The high-frequency sound waves in ultrasound therapy send heat to penetrate injured tissues. They decrease scar tissue and reduce inflammation. These waves also stimulate cell repair. Ultrasound is effective in relieving muscle spasms and tightness.

This treatment can rev metabolism, reduce swelling, and encourage natural healing processes. Ultrasound is safe, non-invasive, and causes no pain. This is a good treatment option for athletes with chronic strains or sprains, tight hamstring or calf muscles, or tendonitis.

X-Ray

Although an x-ray is not a form of treatment, a chiropractor may use it to rule out any severe injuries like bone fractures.
