Workplace Slip and Fall Injuries a Chiropractor Can Help With

If you have a slip and fall accident at work, a skilled chiropractor can help you recover from your injury. In this post, we’re going to cover the most common workplace slip and fall injuries and how chiropractic care can assist in your recovery.

Types of Workplace Slip and Fall Accidents

Falls are common hazards in several different industries. Anytime someone uses a ladder for work or must climb heights to perform tasks, falls are an inherent risk.

Slipping and falling is the second most common reason for workplace injuries, though, and it’s different. Slip and fall injuries can occur due to slick floors, uneven surfaces, clutter, or loose flooring material. Shoes without traction can also contribute to a slip and fall injury at work.

Some slip and fall accidents happen in reaction to another incident. For example, if you are trying to step out of the way of a package delivery person, then slip and fall, your accident happened due to a reaction. These injuries are hard to foresee and prevent, but they happen every day in all types of workplaces.

What happens when you slip and fall?

Common Injuries Due to Workplace Slip and Fall Accidents

Slip and fall accidents can cause major injuries like spinal cord damage and traumatic brain injuries, but they can also cause less severe injuries which still cause significant pain and loss of motion. Here are the most common injuries that result from workplace slip and fall accidents.

Neck injuries

You may not realize right away that you have a neck injury from a slip and fall accident. That’s because neck injuries are soft tissue injuries, and they sometimes don’t show up for days or even weeks after the incident. Microtears in ligaments and muscles can cause stiffness and pain.

Shoulder injuries

If you reached your arm out to protect yourself and landed awkwardly, you may have experienced a shoulder injury. You may have dislocated your shoulder, which will cause sharp pain and a significant loss of motion in your joint.

Back injuries

Any time your spine gets out of alignment, you may experience a back injury. In the fall, your back muscles may have tensed in self-protection, and now you are dealing with muscle spasms and pain. If your spine is misaligned, you may have additional pressure on a disk that can cause debilitating pain.

Strains and sprains

If you twist or tumble in a fall, your muscles or tendons may have become strained and sore. A sprain is when a ligament is torn. This often occurs in your ankle area.

Injuries to any of these body areas can put you out of commission for days or weeks. We can help you get back to work quickly with customized chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Care for your Workplace Slip and Fall Injury

Injuries like these need treatment, or you may end up suffering from chronic pain. Scar tissue can develop and make you susceptible to further injury. It’s wise to seek chiropractic care if you ever experience a slip and fall injury in the workplace.

  • " Have been adjusted by over 50 chiros in my life and Dr Craig is right up there with the best. His method of relaxing each client (hydro-jet-bed then massage) before the adjustment really helps. There is also a physical therapist with his own therapy room to help get your range of motion back like he did for me. VERY REASONABLE pricing and VERY flexible hours SO PLEASE be nice and try to avoid his lunch hour so he and his staff can eat because the poor guy refuses to say no. "
