How to Treat Some of the Most Common Tennis Injuries
Why Soft Tissue Injuries Heal Better after Chiropractic Treatment
You probably know that chiropractic is a good way to treat many auto accident injuries. In particular, people who suffer from whiplash and other soft tissue injuries after a car crash can benefit enormously from chiropractic care.
What you might not realize, though, is that seeing a chiropractor can also be valuable for those looking to file negligence claims related to their auto accident injuries. How exactly can a chiropractor help with this side of things? Let’s take a look:
In order to win a car accident injury claim in Florida and receive the compensation you need and deserve, you’re going to have to provide medical records for injuries associated with the crash. This means quite a bit more than merely turning over the receipts for the work you had done after the accident. You have to be able to show that the treatments in question were specifically for injuries sustained in the crash, and that those treatments were both reasonable and medically necessary.
At USA Health & Therapy, we are well-versed in the process and understand how to document your care to give you the best chance at winning compensation. We always create medical charts that not only list every single symptom (even if it doesn’t show up right away after the accident) but also severity and extent of those symptoms. Moreover, our records include an itemized list of all treatments you receive from us to make it clear that your work with us was specifically due to the personal injury that you incurred in the accident. Finally, our billing information clearly shows both the date and cost tied to each treatment or office visit as additional evidence that all services provided were sought in a timely manner and directly connected to injuries sustained in the crash.
Most of this is actually fairly similar to the above, because all of the documentation you will want for your court case is also important to provide to the insurance company. However, companies also have their own forms that must be completed, rules that need to be followed, and procedures that can hurt or help your case.
Our experienced professionals work with insurers on a regular basis and understand what is necessary when dealing with them to put you on the best footing to get covered for the care you receive. Often this means some combination and version of dotting all the “i’s” and crossing all the “t’s,” as well as knowing who to talk to and not being afraid to push back against delays, obfuscations, and even unjustified denials of coverage.
It is also important to understand that PIP really doesn’t cover chiropractic care, so there’s no point in trying to pay for chiropractic treatments through PIP. That being said, though, this doesn’t really matter if you have suffered a serious injury because PIP only covers up to $10,000. In other words, you’re going to be seeking damages for chiropractic care via a personal injury negligence claim, which will likely involve getting compensation from the negligent party’s insurance. That means you still want to work with a chiropractor who understands insurance practices and can frame and document the work they do in the right way.
We mentioned this above as a good reason to see a chiropractor after a crash because they will be better able to diagnose and treat soft tissue injuries. However, it is also important to mention in terms of filing a negligence claim.
Why? Because chiropractors’ well-known specialization in soft tissue problems means that they are often better equipped to explain how those issues were connected to the accident, why the treatments that they provided were medically necessary, and even how they were more “reasonable” than other, typically more expensive or less effective methods.
Here’s the bottom line: the instinct that many people have after an auto accident is to go see a traditional doctor. This is particularly true if they’re feeling fine… or maybe just dealing with a tiny little bit of pain.
What do you think happens when they do this, though? Most likely, their doctor will provide a terse examination that wouldn’t pass muster with most insurance companies, offer some pain medication, and send them on their way.
Not only is this not particularly useful, it can actually be harmful – both to your case and your health. Because if you’re taking pain medication, it can mask discomfort that might otherwise alert you to the fact that there’s a bigger problem.
We don’t try to prescribe your injuries away at USA Health & Therapy. You’ll receive a professional, in-depth exam where we look closely for potential problems so that you will be able to address them rather than mask them – and so you will have a thorough accounting of all issues related to your crash.
